Elizabeth McGillivray

Originally a native of Kinloch Rannoch, Elizabeth grew up in Monifieth and is an Honours Graduate of Dundee University.   She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.   Like Anne she too has an involvement with the University as a tutor and lecturer, her subjects being Wills, Trusts, Executries and Inheritance Tax.   These are the areas in which she most spends her working time along with the management of the firm

Her interest in education resulted in serving for eleven years as a member of the Board of Management of Angus College.   She sat on the Council of the Law Society of Scotland for seven years and was a member of various Committees and Working Parties.   She continues to be involved with the Society as the Chair of the Joint Board of Examiners between the Society and the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland.   She has also acted as Secretary of the Faculty of Procurators and Solicitors in Dundee for many years and was latterly their Dean.  For the first fifteen years of this century she acted as Clerk to the Three United Trades of Dundee.

Anne Grieve

Born and bred in Dundee, Anne was educated at The High School of Dundee and graduated from the University of Dundee.     After working for some years with a well-known local Firm, following a career break, Anne joined Bowmans in 1993, specialising in Residential Property and Conveyancing.   This includes House Purchases, House Sales, Title Transfers, Security and Remortgage work.   She has acquired an extensive knowledge of the local market in this time.

Being part of a smaller Firm provides the opportunity to offer a more personal service, supporting clients throughout their transaction.   Life has now come full circle, and for the last twelve years, Anne has also tutored at Dundee University in Conveyancing on the Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Karen Marshall

Karen joined Bowmans in 2004 as a trainee straight from Dundee University, having just completed the LL.B and Diploma in Legal Practice.   Karen entered the legal profession as a mature student and having already received her first degree, an MA (Hons) in Philosophy, from University of St Andrews. She has remained with Bowmans since traineeship and is now an Associate within the firm.

One of the benefits of being part of a close knit team within a smaller firm is that there are occasional opportunities for becoming involved in interesting and unusual legal problems, and Karen’s area of work can be quite diverse. Mostly though, the focus is on matrimonial and family law, landlord and tenant matters, debt recovery, guardianships and executries.
